There are times when your air conditioning unit is working perfectly and your home is nice and cool. And, there are times when you can’t figure out what’s going on, because the home is cool one minute, warm the next. Here, we’d like to provide you with a few common reasons why you may find issues with your system and why you may need air conditioning repairs.

Common Air Conditioning Unit Issues

No matter the kind of air conditioning unit you have, eventually, it’s going to have issues and need professional service. Some common issues include, but are not limited to, the following:

Not Cooling Properly

If you are finding the unit isn’t cooling your house enough, it’s a sign of a problem. Common reasons include a broken motor fan, bad compressor or low refrigerant.

Warm Air Blowing

If the air conditioning unit starts to blow warm air, aside from low refrigerant, other issues include a broken compressor motor or faulty thermostat. The thermostat should be set low enough to turn on your AC. If you find the AC is not kicking on when it should, the thermostat may be to blame.

Clogged Air Filter

One of the biggest issues with air conditioners is a clogged filter. The filter helps to keep dirt and debris from getting in the moving parts. If the filter is clogged it restricts the air flow and can cause inefficient cooling and/or a frozen evaporator coil. The filter should be cleaned or changed at least once per month.
