Indoor Air Cleaners | HEPA, Ozone-ionizer | Rhode Island

Did you know the quality and cleanliness of the air in your home can be as much as 100x worse than outdoor air? It’s not even your fault – no matter how clean you keep your home, it’s easy for viruses, bacteria, dust, mold and more to sneak into your home. The worst part? The more efficient (tightly sealed) your home is, the worse your indoor air quality can get! Fortunately, McKee Bros. provides a full lineup of quality air cleaners to help keep the air you and your family breathe clean.
Indoor air cleaners can make a world of difference in your home, helping alleviate allergy and asthma symptoms by addressing such indoor air quality issues as airborne bacteria, mold, viruses, dust and cigarette smoke. Whether you’re desperately seeking allergy relief or you just want a cleaner home or office, an air cleaner may be the answer to your problem!

HEPA Air Cleaners

HEPA air filters can be found in air cleaners, air purifiers and even some high quality vacuum cleaners. HEPA air cleaners are the most effective air cleaners available, operating at efficiency rates of up to 99.97%! HEPA filters can trap indoor air contaminants as small as .3 microns in size, including dust, smoke, pollen, pet dander, dust mites and more. Air cleaners using HEPA filters can also be fitted with UV light systems to kill viruses, bacteria and fungi that end up in the filter.
HEPA air cleaners are most effective at pulling pollutants out of the air they are in, making them extremely popular for use in bedrooms, home offices and family rooms.

Ozone-ionizer Air Cleaners

Unlike HEPA air cleaners, ozone-ionizer air cleaners don’t use filters. Instead, they create ozone which penetrates the cell structure of the odor, bacteria or viruses, rupturing the cell wall and destroying the contaminant. This makes ozone-ionizer air cleaners highly effective at eliminating odors caused by cigar and cigarette smoke.
After the ozonation process has occurred, the ozone-ionizer air cleaner begins the process of ionization. There are two types of ionization:

  • Needlepoint ionization involves negatively charging the air directly in front of the air cleaner, which causes the air molecules to attach themselves to pollutants in the air, dragging them down to the ground. Needlepoint ionizers usually have an operable range of about five to seven ft around the air cleaner.
  • Radio ionization uses specialized (and safe) radio waves that ionize the air in a 50 ft radius. Air cleaners that use radio ionization can operate through walls. Depending on where the radio ionizer is located, one single air cleaner can cover an entire home!
