1. Is your furnace older than 15 years? – If you have an oil furnace, a 15-year-old furnace is usually not a problem. The life expectancy on many oil furnaces is 30 years. 3. If your furnace making strange noises? – Does your furnace make a popping, rattling, or banging noise when you turn it on? As a furnace ages, it starts to make noises as it approaches the end of its life. Moreover, if your burner seems to turn on and off frequently, this is also another sign you need a new furnace.

4. Do you constantly have to adjust the thermostat? – If some rooms always seem too hot or too cold, this indicates a poor distribution of heat. While there are several reasons this can occur, your furnace is one of them. If it seems like you are always adjusting the thermostat, it is a good idea to have a professional inspect your unit.
